First off, you need to verify whether you have PCMCIA (16-bit) or CARDBUS
(32-bit). If you do have the 32-bit CARDBUS, you should be ok. However, be
careful if you have PCMCIA because the rest of the hardware is likely not up
to spec. You would also need to verify that you're getting a true CARDBUS
card for that socket. The one issue you may encounter is that you CARDBUS
is not 5V signaling but 3.3V. This would only matter if your drivers
required 5V. If you're using any decent break-out board, this isn't going
to matter.
Another option is that, if you have USB ports, you might consider the
soon-to-be-released SmoothStepper.
